Quite an interesting reading with regards to toxic relationship and why people wouldn’t leave.
This topic has been near to my heart for quite number of years now.
Trying to understand the situation not from the victim perspective but more towards what I can do as and outsider.
Many people that I love, sadly had gone through this or currently facing this situation.
Listening to their stories, breaks my heart. It is an awful journey that comes with no ‘how-to’ handbook or manuals.
Quite often I couldnt help but to think “why wouldn’t people leave” or “what is so difficult” or “can’t you see that this is wrong”. This ain’t normal obviously. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t be accepting such doings.
On top of everything that I could think of, it never occurred to me that this is actually related to an ‘addiction’ for we are only familiar with substance abuse and addiction, or alcohol addiction. People are usually ashamed to be talking about this in public.
After reading this today things sorts of make sense to me. What this article did, it connected a dot that I’ve been trying to figure out.
